Summary Cloze
- 1. Read Version 1 quickly to understand its main ideas.
- 2. Skim Version 2 and compare it with Version 1.
- 3. Work out what the missing words in Version 2 might be, deciding on the possible parts of speech (e.g. noun, pronoun, verb – to-infinitive; bare infinitive; v-ing, adverb, adjective, etc.)
- 4. Reread Version 2 more carefully, referring to relevant parts of Version 1 whenever necessary.
- 5. Fill in the blanks in Version 2 with the most suitable words.
- 6. The most suitable word for a blank may be a word in Version 1, a different form of a word in Version 1, a synonym of a word in Version 1, or even a word of your own.
- 7. Whatever the most suitable words may be, make sure they fit grammatically and structurally into Version 2.
