Common English Errors — ‘almost’

almost

My grandma almost plays mahjong every day. (WRONG)

My grandma plays mahjong almost every day. (CORRECT)

If ‘almost’ is in front of ‘plays’ it will modify ‘plays’, meaning grandma nearly plays mahjong but never does. So ‘almost’ should be put as close as possible to the expression it modifies, that is ‘every day’.
